Staff-Operated Payments
The check comes to the guest. The payment never leaves the POS.
Handheld terminals that pull the real open check from Simphony, capture payment and tip at the table, and close the transaction in the same flow the server would complete at the workstation. No printed slips. No tip-adjust batches. No walk back to a terminal.

Why it works
Inside the transaction, not beside it.
On the real Simphony check
The handheld pulls live open checks from Simphony through the same infrastructure that powers the rest of the Vitabyte platform. Not a mirrored copy, not a reconciliation queue — the same check the server sees on their workstation.
Payment posts as tender
When the card clears, the tender posts back to Simphony with the tip, entry mode, and authorization — closing the check the same way a workstation would. There is no end-of-night reconciliation to chase.
Removes the walk-back loop
No server walking to the terminal with a card, back with a slip, back again with a signed copy. Minutes come off every turn, and the card never leaves the guest's sight.
Capabilities
Everything the workstation does. In a handheld.
Pull Any Open Check
Search by table name or pick from the list of open checks sorted by check number, table, or amount. The exact check loads on the handheld with every item, modifier, and subtotal.
EMV Chip, Contactless, Swipe
Integrated EMV-certified reader. Tap, dip, or swipe — the entry mode is captured and posted back with the tender.
Tip Capture at the Terminal
Preset tip percentages or a custom amount, entered on the handheld before the card is read. No tip-adjust batch at end of night.
Even Splits, 2 to 6 Ways
Split the check evenly across two to six guests — or enter a custom partial amount. Each split settles as its own tender against the same Simphony check.
Print or Email Receipts
Integrated terminal printer for paper receipts. Email delivery for guests who want a digital copy. No paper stack at end of night.
Purpose-Built Handheld
Runs on rugged Android handhelds with an integrated card reader, printer, and long battery life. Built for the floor, not a consumer tablet.
Operational Impact
Faster turns. Less shrink. Cleaner close.
Pay-at-table eliminates the walk-back loop — server takes the card, walks to the terminal, walks back with the slip, walks back again with the signed copy. Removing that loop shaves minutes off every turn and removes the window where cards can be skimmed or slips lost. End-of-night close gets simpler because there is no tip-adjust batch to process.
